Certain occasions, like New Year’s Eve and birthdays, make us focus more than we usually would on the idea of clocks and the nature of time. Which got us to thinking: what are the most famous clocks in the world of the visual arts? Where are the most important artist’s portrayals of clocks? What about famous art clocks? We did a bit of research and here are 14 of the most famous and beautiful works of art featuring clocks and timepieces in the world.

There’s a lot to see at the new Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. We’re sharing what we saw on our first visit after the museum reopened in fall 2019 after a major expansion, one exhibit at a time. After seeing Betye Saar: The Legends of Black Girl’s Window, we discovered an enchanted electric rain forest of sound – a cool and playful installation at the new MoMA – David Tudor’s Rainforest V (variation 1).

Majestic Sculptures Grace the Facade of the Met Museum

Four elegant African women currently grace the facade of the Met in New York City; each one is seated on her own elevated pedestal. And each one maintains a regal air.  These majestic bronze sculptures, the first in the new annual Facade Commission at the Metropolitan Museum, are the work of Kenyan-American artist Wangechi Mutu. You.
