In New York and London, the luxury department stores and powerhouse luxury brands have already put everything from fall-winter on deep discount (think 75% off). January 10 is the start of the sale season in Paris (it’s always the second Wednesday in January). Resort (or “cruise,” if you like the old-school moniker) is one of our favorite seasons – the clothes tend to be less trendy and therefore a more sensible investment. The looks are usually polished, optimistic and versatile. Plus they evoke distant lands untouched by snow and ice: the desert, the tropics, the Mediterranean. It’s nearly holiday party season, and you know what that means. Lots of opportunities to perch in a conspicuous place so everyone can see your cute shoes. Lots of opportunities to dance the night away. Lots of opportunities to be in agony because you wore the wrong shoes. Don’t be that person. Here at Dandelion Chandelier, we’ve been on a reconnaissance mission at Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys New York to scout out the footwear options for holiday party season. We’ve done the scouting so you don’t have to.   Fur or flip-flops? Or furry flip-flops? What should be on your luxury shopping list in November? Here at Dandelion Chandelier, we find that luxury shopping gets seriously confusing this time of year. Resort collections arrive. Cute sandals and strappy stilettoes meant to dance the tropical night away flood the shoe department. But there are also fun faux furs everywhere. There are chic performance ski clothes to investigate. There are also winter white sweaters and furry boots and knit hats with pom-poms on them for après-ski (whether you spent the day on the slopes or in the sauna). We find this disconcerting. It’s a psychic disconnect that takes some of the fun out of shopping this month. Nevertheless, we’re not going to be deterred.
