What’s it like to eat at the best restaurant in the world? And what can other purveyors of luxury goods learn from the master of luxurious experiences for the well-heeled? Recently, the Dandelion Chandelier Staff Photographer and I decided to investigate.
The contemporary art world moves at a dizzying pace, and every now and then it’s a luxury to slow down and reflect on one of the most important collections in the world. On the occasion of its 80th anniversary, the Guggenheim Museum in New York is doing just that with “Visionaries: Creating a Modern Guggenheim,” an exhibition of 170 works from its permanent collection, many of which are rarely on view.
The vibrant annual Orchid Show at New York’s Botanical Garden, now in its 15th year, is one of the many harbingers of spring in the city. This year’s theme is Thailand, and the exhibition doesn’t disappoint: it’s a riot of color, with rare and extraordinary specimens on display in an extensive greenhouse tour through the various climates in which orchids can thrive.
You’ve met someone interesting. You’ve worked up the courage to invite them out for a proper, grown-up dinner date. Now you face the hardest part of the entire process: selecting the right restaurant. No pressure, but a bad choice here could make the odds of a continued conversation with the object of your affection a lot longer (we actually believe that if it’s meant to be, one bad date is not going to wreck you, but why roll the dice on that? What could be more difficult than finding the perfect restaurant for a first date? Perhaps getting the date in the first place. But surely after that, nailing the choice of location is a Gordian knot of epic proportions. After all, this could be your future on the line. This person could be The One. It would be really good to get this right. You want a great story for your future offspring, yes? No pressure. It’s just potentially Your Whole Life we’re talking about.
