Chic insider fashion tips for a stylish new year’s eve

The classic song written in 1947 by Frank Loesser song wistfully enquires “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” If somehow you’ve never listened to it, you absolutely should – we recommend Ella Fitzgerald’s cover of the bluesy tune; Lena Horne’s is also transporting. Some might vote for Patti LaBelle, Harry Connick, Kacey Musgrave. Your call. Here at Dandelion Chandelier, while we love the song and we know that where you spend the big night is a big deal (as is having your hangover cure plan ready to go), we feel that the more pressing question this time of year is “what are you wearing New Year’s Eve?” Fashionistas the world over know that one’s ensemble as the clock strikes midnight sets the tone for the entire year. We don’t want to be dramatic, but if you haven’t thought about your OOTD for December 31 yet, you should. You don’t want to doom yourself to a dowdy new year.

What are the Best Pieces in the New Resort Collections?

The 2017-18 luxury designer resort collections are now fully delivered, and available online and in-store. Resort (or “cruise,” if you like the old-school moniker) is one of our favorite seasons – the clothes tend to be less trendy and therefore a more sensible investment. The looks are usually polished, optimistic and versatile. Plus they evoke distant lands untouched by snow and ice: the desert, the tropics, the Mediterranean. What better way to dream a little dream than to browse the best of the resort collections? Whether you’re buying because you’ve already got an elegant trip planned, or just “window-shopping” and looking for inspiration, this is a great time of year. Our intrepid team here at Dandelion Chandelier has zeroed in on seven luxury brands we love, to see what’s on offer this resort season. We like to think of them as the “Magnificent Seven:” Gucci, Valentino, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, FENDI and Prada. We’ve assessed apparel, shoes, sneakers and handbags. And we’ve got the one must-buy item of the season. Here’s our Style Editor’s resort …

Where are the Best Luxury Pop-up Shops this Holiday?

‘Tis the season for pop-up stores. What’s on tap for holiday 2017, and which ones are worthy of a stop this year, whether you’re planning to buy, or just curious to see what’s happening offline (just to be clear, “offline” refers to a brick and mortar edifice that back in the day was called a retail store). Here’s our Dandelion Chandelier list of pop-ups that are already open or opening soon. Nearly all are in New York City, but some are also in other cities in the US and in London. Not to get you crazy, but one was so exclusive that it’s already come and gone: Chanel’s pop-up, the Coco Club, was open for just one day – on November 12 – and was dedicated to the brand’s Boyfriend watch. The pop-up was at The Wing in SoHo, with three rooms illustrating the value of time, and a numerologist on hand to give personalized readings. C’est la vie. Maybe next year.
