Winter is coming. But will we actually get to ski? Or snowboard, or snowshoe, or even have a good old fashioned community snowball fight? This is what we’re reduced to in 2020, dear reader. Noses pressed against the window, hoping for snow. Sipping hot chocolate and longing for the perennial joys of the winter season and snow sports. We’re gonna think positively and plan for the best. Which means it’s time to hit the ski shop! Our correspondent Julie Chang Murphy has curated a list of what to buy in the best winter 2020-21 luxury designer fashion ski wear, accessories, apparel and gear, including jackets, pants, hats, gloves, and goggles. Let it snow!
is the 2020-21 ski season the latest casualty of coronavirus?
The question on every skier’s mind right now is this: is ski season canceled?
Right now, we’re feeling optimistic. In France, the 2020-2021 ski season is officially underway with select high altitude slopes open for business.

Last month, Vail Resorts, a collection of 37 mountain destinations in the United States, Canada, and Australia, unveiled its vision of what the season might look like. Required face coverings. Physical distancing on chairlifts and mountain restaurants. Health screenings at ski schools.
And don’t shoot the messenger, but at the Vail Resorts, full-service bars will be closed this season. And we’re actually OK with that. We’ll say farewell to the après ski scene if it means we can actually ski.
Who knows? Perhaps we’ll all have to plan to ski locally – which means the Manhattan crowd may end up at Hunter Mountain if we can’t cross state lines (New England, we’re just putting it out there: we’re counting on you to keep the curve flat).
Wherever you live, on the off chance that we can actually hit the mountains this winter, we went in search of the latest chic designer fashion luxury ski apparel. The happy news? There are some gorgeous options out there this year.
what to buy this winter: the best luxury fashion designer ski wear, apparel and accessories
Whether you’re on the bunny slope or a double black diamond, being stylish on your winter wonderland vacation does not mean sacrificing warmth and performance.
And hey – if you end up wiping out, at least you’ll look good doing it. Here are our top picks for the best luxury ski wear including jackets, pants, hats, gloves, and goggles.
1. ski jackets
A statement jacket speaks volumes. If you’re looking to invest in one piece this season, this is it. Pair with your standard white or black pair ski pants and you’re off!
2. ski pants
Ski pants are often overlooked but offer an opportunity to show a quirky and daring style all your own. They’ve come a long way from the bulky, hard-to-move-in styles of our youth.
3. ski hats
I was today years old when I learned that the long-touted statistic that one loses up to 50% of their body heat through their head is a myth. Still, a hat or headband goes a long way in keeping warm and cozy. And with hats this chic, you won’t even want to take them off and reveal the dreaded hat head.
4. ski gloves
Nothing gets us off the slopes earlier than we would like than cold, wet hands. Check out these beautiful options that are windproof and waterproof but still allow for maximum manual dexterity.
5. ski goggles
The key to that too-cool-for-ski-school look are a pair of technical goggles. These are all highly rated for great optics and breathability.

One thing is for sure – where we ski, how often and our gear will probably look a bit different on the slopes this winter 2020-21. And we’ll take it in stride, in style, and in a mask.
