Where to Find the Best Luxury Halloween Treats This Year
1. l.a. burdick chocolates
L.A. Burdick Handmade Chocolates is the home of iconic whimsical White Chocolate Ghosts ($3.75). These adorable little treats from the New England-based chocolatier are a classic refined Halloween sweet. They’re filled with pumpkin spice cider dark chocolate ganache and while you can buy them individually, you’re gonna want to spring for a box of five ($18).
And there are many other options available by mail, as well including the Halloween Crate ($74) filled with a variety of limited-edition chocolate bonbons in the shapes of ghosts, pumpkins, mice and bats as well as the smaller Coffin ($32) with a similar array of treats. Halloween shipping runs from October 5-30 this year.
2. hotel chocolat
Hotel Chocolat, the British chocolatier, has whimsical options for kids and adults alike for Halloween. The H-Box of Halloween Bites (£12) includes pumpkin salted caramels and the extra spooky “Grim Treater,” a skull fashioned from 40% milk chocolate.
For a little sampling of everything there’s The Halloween Collection (£25) which includes the Halloween H-Box Bites, The Cryptopher the Vampire Boo Box containing 16 individually wrapped Halloween chocolates and a “Yumpkin,” a creamy milk chocolate pumpkin. Once the little ones are asleep, you can keep the party going with the boozy Tipsy Alcoholic Truffles Sleekster (£22.95), an assortment of chocolates spiked with vodka, gin, triple sec, vermouth, absinthe and white rum. Thankfully, Halloween is on a Saturday this year.
3. li-lac chocolates
Manhattan’s oldest chocolate house, Li-Lac Chocolates, pulls out all the stops for every holiday, and Halloween is no exception. You’ll find handmade artisanal chocolate ranging from small milk, dark and white chocolate Skulls ($10) to extra large Big Scary Ghosts ($65) you can share with the whole family.
For something you can safely share with friends – it is still a pandemic after all – we recommend the festive Halloween Box ($18) with eight delectable milk and dark chocolate confections including Hazelnut Truffle Squares, Chocolate Rolls, Chocolate Creams, Pumpkin-Patch Chocolates and a Peanut-Butter Chocolate Pumpkin in the center.
4. chocolate secrets
Established in 2003, Chocolate Secrets is a gourmet chocolate and fine wine experience based in Dallas, Texas. The black women-owned business handcrafts over 52 flavors of chocolate bonbons and truffles, over 25 flavors of macarons, over 15 flavors of ice cream and sorbets and over 25 different pastries.
Perfect for Halloween are the art covered Chocolate Pumpkins ($18.95) that are almost too beautiful to eat.
5. sugarfina
Not in the mood for chocolate? If you’re more of a gummy candy type, Sugarfina is your luxury candy nirvana. For Halloween, the confectioner is offering a Sugar Skull Candy Bento Box ($30) filled with an assortment of Day of the Dead treats that are enough to sweeten any soul.
For something more on the seasonal side, there’s sweet Pumpkin Pie Caramels ($8). One bite and you’ll be whisked away to pumpkin paradise.
6. dylan’s candy bar
Not surprisingly, Halloween is a very big deal at Dylan’s Candy Bar, and there are sweets to satisfy just about everyone. We love these adorable Spooktacular Halloween Kabobs ($6). With lots of candies stacked on top to enjoy, they’re the perfect party treat.
For something completely different, or for your next scary movie, there’s Monster Mix Halloween Popcorn ($12) filled with airy popcorn, chocolate cookies, candy corn and gummy worms all drizzled in white chocolate. Bring on the next movie night!
7. georgetown cupcakes
If you’re not a candy type at all, you can still join in the sweet fun with yummy DC-based Georgetown Cupcakes. They can be ordered and shipped overnight anywhere in the US.
During the month of October you can order the Trick or Treat Dozen ($36), which has 12 cupcakes with Halloween-inspired flavors and decorations, including a vanilla bat, a pumpkin spice haunted house, a chocolate ghost, a pumpkin cheesecake-flavored black cat, a salted caramel jack-o-lantern and a peanut butter fudge witch.
If your tastes run more to the macabre, the Haunted Dozen ($36) is a cupcake assortment in black and white; the Happy Halloween Dozen ($36) is as cheerful as it sounds; you could creep your friends out with Spiders and Webs or Bats and Ghosts. So many choices, so little time. We find it kind of terrifying how much we want one of each of these.
8. williams-sonoma
From cakes to cupcakes to chocolates, cake pops and cookies, Williams-Sonoma has it all when it comes to Halloween themed sweets. If cakes are your thing, they have a variety of “We Take the Cake” options, including a Werewolf ($80), a Jack O’Lantern ($80) and a Black Cat ($80) in flavors like red velvet, pumpkin and buttery vanilla.
Since bobbing for apples is off the table this year, why not try a set of Candied Caramel Apples ($50) or Halloween Mummies and Ghosts Caramel Apples ($55) with crisp, orchard-fresh Granny Smith apples dunked in caramel and chocolate and decorated?
fortnum & mason
Whether you are looking for a little something for yourself or a hamper full of goodies to gift, London’s Fortnum & Mason is a great option. Add some devilishly fiery flavor to your holiday proceedings with Lucifer Biscuits (£12.95). Each buttery biscuit is made with fresh ginger and just the right amount of chilli so that when you munch, the heat builds up slowly and finishes with a warm chilli kick.
Devilishly spiced and beautifully decorated by hand, the Day of the Dead Iced Biscuits (£16.95) and the Creepy Crawlies Iced Biscuits (£16.95) will have you screaming for more.
10. salt & straw
The Portland, Oregon-based artisanal ice cream company Salt & Straw is set to scoop its annual Halloween-themed lineup in the beginning of October.
The yearly Spooktacular Series is packed with creative flavors like The Great Candycopia (salted butterscotch ice cream, homemade candy bars and peanut butter cups) and Creepy Crawly Critters (matcha ice cream, toffee brittle mealworms, chocolate crickets) that are available for nationwide shipping for one month only with a melt-free guarantee.
