what to wear in March 2020
Just for fun, when we think about the perfect wardrobe for a new month, we like to dress in a color palette that channels the true essence of the month.
So what should we wear to channel the essential spirit of March?
Many people are likely to vote for green as the Official Color of March. And why not? Spring officially arrives in March. There are green shoots of grass poking through the ground. And usually some tiny green buds on the trees.

It’s also the month of St. Patrick’s Day – full of four-leaf clovers, Irish flags, rivers dyed green and green beer. That seems extremely persuasive in crowning green the victor here.
Upon further reflection, though, we think there’s more to March than green.
There’s slate gray, for one. We all know that March skies can bring rain, sleet, freezing rain, snow, or some combination of all of the above. We think a creamy ivory – like the color of a lamb’s fur – should be up for discussion. You could see many shades of brown as the essence of March: freshly tilled soil, bird’s nests, and mud puddles.
Even more than those, though, we have a great deal of conviction around the idea of gold in March. For starters, it is said that March comes in like a lion. Which got us thinking about the color of a lion’s fur.
Consider how many places you’ll find gold in nature in March. In California, you’ll find golden poppies in full bloom. In Europe, its golden sprays of mimosas. Both dawn and dusk can take on a shimmering golden glow.
So why not make your style direction this month a mash-up of all of these elements? Here are 5 ways to face the madness of March with a confident air. Whether its for work, daytime adventures, chilling on the weekend, date night or spring break, if you get stuck and need inspiration, just go with one of these ideas.

Your March color story can mirror the story of the coming of spring. Begin with icy grey, silver, charcoal and chocolate brown. Introduce some textured ivory or beige. And then add perhaps a bit of very pale yellow or buttercream. Or pop in vibrant green, red or purple. Complete the idea with the liberal use of softly shimmering metallics: copper, bronze and lots of gold.
That feels like a color palette for a month that should make you feel that you’re on your way. Filled with anticipation and a tiny spark of joy. A honey-colored month that could be really sweet.

4. what to wear in March 2020: chocolate brown
If you want to make the connection to chocolate Easter eggs, go for it. Or maybe its a connection to the earth, and tilling the soil, and being grounded that makes brown appeal to you. We love it in all of its incarnations. Here’s how to work it into your look this month.
Ganni’s (2) chocolate brown leather mini-dress ($675) is a strong contender for “It” Dress of the season. Along with The Vampire’s Wife (3) Liberty print mini-dress ($693). The palest shades of yellow all the way through to bright sunshine hues are a perfect way to end our survey of the best looks for the month of March. Spring is calling – this is a great way to answer.
Yellow can be tough to wear, but some buttery tones work for just about everyone. Start with (1) Mara Hoffman’s organic cotton midi dress ($395) or this (14) Three Graces London’s mini ($385). Or a (8) Loewe cardigan ($1,800) with a floral pattern inspired by the tiles of 19th-century British artist William De Morgan.
