The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade is always a high point of the month of November (Hey, Santa!) But this year, it will also be a moment in contemporary art. Japanese pop artist Yayoi Kusama, 90, has been invited to design a balloon for the parade this year. While Kusama has recently been most notable for her Infinity Room shows at museums around the world, she has worked in multiple mediums throughout her career. Her balloon is a reinterpretation of a piece from her “My Eternal Soul” painting series. The 34-tall sun character, complete with a colorful face and polka-dotted sunbeams, will require 20 handlers to guide it down the parade route – November 28, 2019
The Season 3 debut of The Crown on Netflix is upon us, with Olivia Colman starring as Queen Elizabeth II. Helena Bonham Carter is Princess Margaret – November 17, 2019
