Top 10 Picks in the World of Luxury March 2019

Our Luxury Calendar provides a comprehensive overview of the top events unfolding around the world every month. Some are micro-luxuries (like a really good book) and others are on a grand, epic scale. As we polish off our research we always dream a little dream about the entries that most intrigue or excite us – the ones we most passionately want to be a part of. If schedules and money were no object, and we could do anything we like, here are our top picks in the world of luxury experiences and events in March 2019.

It’s hard to narrow the list down to just the top 10 choices, but here goes.

The iconic SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas. There’ll be a curated mix of artists performing in bars, clubs, parks, churches, hotels and more – March 8 – 17

Migrations the Making of America, at Carnegie Hall. The concert will examine the musical legacies of three migrations. First, the crossings from Scotland and Ireland during the 18th and 19th centuries. Second, the immigration of Jews from Russia and Eastern Europe between 1881 and the National Origins Act of 1924. And finally, the Great Migration – the exodus of African Americans from the South to the industrialized cities of the Northeast, Midwest and West from 1917 into the 1970s. With performances of bluegrass, old time, klezmer, Yiddish musical theater, blues, jazz, and more, the festival will celebrate the American musical traditions that flourished as a result – March 9 – April 15

Verrocchio, The Master Of Leonardo at the Palazzo Strozzi in Florence. As a teacher of Leonardo da Vinci, Andrea del Verrocchio was a formative influence on the Florentine Renaissance. Over 120 paintings, sculptures and drawings from the world’s leading museums and collections come together in this exhibit exploring his influence and offering insight into da Vinci’s early years – March 9 – July 14

Armory Week in New York City. The city will host a dozen art fairs and gallery shows over the course of one weekend. The four on our list? The Armory Show (the largest international art show in the US, now in its 25th year). The Art Show, presented by the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA). The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) New York show. And finally, the Independent Art Fair March 3 – 10

The Cheltenham Festival, an annual horse race in Gloucestershire, England. The race’s prize money is second only to the Grand National, and the event draws many of the best British and Irish-trained horsesMarch 12 – 15

The grand opening of the Hudson Yards complex in Manhattan. The restaurants and food halls, Snark Park exhibit space, and the Public Square and Gardens will be unveiled this month. The performing arts center The Shed will open a bit later, on April 5th.  In terms of luxury, this glittering development has it all: shopping, services, art, fine dining, culture, and lots of greenery. Plus a crisp breeze off the Hudson. We can’t wait to see it! #HelloHudsonYards – March 15

The Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland. There will be several new super car launches from marques like Lamborghini, Ginetta, Koenigsegg and Ferrari. Plus lots of cool ultra-luxury concept cars, many of them all-electric. March 7 – 17

Hotel Amapa in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The new property promises guests a modern, minimalist Mexican experience. The hotel’s rooftop pool and bar boast panoramic views of both the ocean and the Sierra Madre Mountains.

The 30th annual Wildfoods Festival. At this notable gathering in the quaint town of Hokitika on the west coast of New Zealand’s South Island, festival participants feast on things they probably never imagined could be cooked into a meal – March 9
