Warm weather may seem far away, but the spring 2019 luxury designer collaborations are already on their way. And they don’t disappoint. Spring is the season of unusual affairs and the attraction of opposites, and some of these partnerships definitely qualify. You’d think some of these duos just wouldn’t work, but somehow they do. Here are the best of the late winter-spring 2019 luxury collaborations (so far).
Luxury designer collabs are still a very big Thing
Collaboration fever shows no signs of slowing down in 2019, if the lineup of capsule collections and designer collabs debuting over the next month is any indication.
In 2018, we saw everything from unexpected combinations like Fendi and Fila to those we were surprised hadn’t joined up sooner, like H&M and Moschino.
This year brings thought-provoking match-ups and guaranteed hypebeast status pieces. There’s everything from high-low to hype-slow to luxe-street making their debut.
So get ready for a spring season filled with fun new drops. And hustle fast so that they don’t sell out before you can click.

Apparel
1. Burberry x Vivienne Westwood
The Burberry x Vivienne Westwood collaboration is a marriage between two iconic British fashion brands that dropped in late December. The collection was inspired by Westwood’s most famous punk rock inspired collections of the 70’s, re-imagined in Burberry’s vintage check. Think classic double-breasted jackets ($1,590), a hugger jacket ($1,750) and a mini kilt ($960), lace-up platforms ($990), and a wool beret with slogan pins ($350) all in unisex styling and sizing.
2. Gucci x MP5
Italian artist MP5, who created some of the new wall paintings in the Gucci Garden, has designed a line of sweatshirts, T-shirts and shopper totes featuring black-and-white prints inspired by the ancient Chinese text the I Ching (also known as the Book of Changes).
3. Gucci x Disney
In addition to recently pairing up for Snow White Sequined Sweaters ($5,200) and Three Little Pigs Jackets ($4,800), the House of Mouse and the Italian label will launch Mickey handbags later this month. Part of Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection, the bags are designed to look identical to the iconic cartoon character to celebrate Mickey’s 90th birthday.
4. Tommy x Zendaya
Nearly one year after his design partnership with Gigi Hadid ended, Tommy Hilfiger has tapped Zendaya as his new women’s ambassador and co-designer. The capsule collection, dubbed Tommy x Zendaya, will be released for the Spring 2019 season and will infuse her eclectic style with Hilfiger’s Americana aesthetic.
5. The Moncler Genius Initative
Launched last year, the Moncler Genius initiative featured a series of eight unique collections from designers like Simone Rocha and Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli. Each capsule reinterpreted Moncler’s signature aesthetic while prioritizing the functionality of each project’s core element: a down jacket. For spring 2019, which Moncler has dubbed “The Next Chapter,” the brand has invited five of those original eight back, and will debut these new collaborations throughout the spring months.
6. Belstaff x McLaren
Another marriage of two iconic British brands, Belstaff x McLaren were united by their passion for innovation and design. The result? You’ll find smart menswear pieces like jackets, pants and shirts in the 10-piece men’s line. Plus a sleek parka jacket ($850) for the ladies. Supercar to C-Suite, with no stops in between.
7. Dior Homme x KAWS
Dior x Kaws: The Kim Jones designed collection encompasses sportswear apparel emblazoned with the house’s signature Bee logo, reinterpreted by famed Brooklyn street artist Brian “KAWS” Donnelly. Silhouettes include Dior branded T-shirts ($590) and sweaters ($890) as well as belt bags ($870), pins ($870) and pouches ($740), all punctuated with KAWS’ revamped Bee motif.
The collab also features truly adorable plush toys that look just right for spring.
8. Prada Invites
For Spring/Summer 2019, Prada has invited three globally influential female creatives to collaborate and to devise items for women crafted from Prada’s emblematic nylon fabric. A trio of leading female architects – Cini Boeri, Elizabeth Diller and Kazuyo Sejima – designed two unique new pieces created from Prada nylon: The Envelope and The Yoke. The Envelope, which may seem like a garment bag at first look, doubles as a raincoat while The Yoke is a modern re-interpretation of what appears like a safety vest but is a hand-held clutch with a buckle strap.
Accessories
1. John Hardy x Adwoa Aboah
John Hardy x Adwoa Aboah sees the Balinese jewelry designer team up with Adwoa Aboah, the model, activist and founder of female-empowerment platform Gurls Talk. Together, they have re-imagined John Hardy’s classic chain with unexpected texture, contrasts and splashes of color using raw stones. The resulting collection can be mixed and matched, and layered and stacked to create a unique personal aesthetic. We’ll take a pair of the drop chain earrings with gemstones ($2,600), please.
2. Lady Dior Art Capsule #3
Dior has collaborated in the past with various artists to put their own spins on their iconic Lady Dior bag. But for the first time, this season they have compiled a female-only cast of 11 artists from all over the world to interpret the bag. Olga De Amaral of Colombia, Polly Apfelbaum of the U.S., Burçak Bingöl of Turkey, Lee Bul of Korea, and Isabelle Cornaro of France, among others, have redesigned the bag using dozens of different mediums. The artists have employed metal, plastic, gold chains, cotton, fur, embroidery and ropes. The bags are being produced in limited edition quantities and are currently exclusively available for purchase at the Miami Design District boutique (they were unveiled at Art Basel Miami). They will be available at select boutiques around the world later this month.
3. Comme de Garcons x Gucci
This is a hypebeasts dream come true. Avante-garde Japanese brand Comme des Garçons has paired up with Italian maximalist Alessandro Michele of Gucci to create the Gucci x CdG shopper tote bag. This one is gonna be hard to come by though because as of now it is exclusively available for purchase in-store at Comme des Garcons locations in Japan, though there are rumors swirling it may hit stateside this month. Fingers crossed.
4. Vetements x Oakley Sunglasses
Looking to up your accessories game? Inspired by Oakley’s classic sport performance styles and infused with Demna Gvasalia‘s cutting edge aesthetics, Vetements x Oakley sunglasses ($1,016) feature colored mirror lenses with spikes at the bottom edge. Having made their debut during Vetements‘ Spring/Summer 2019 runway show, they are now available to pre-order at Vetements official retailers.
Footwear
1. Tod’s T Factory
Alessandro Dell’Acqua inaugurates T Factory, a new creative hub for high-profile collaborations across all areas that bring their own take to the Tod’s DNA. The Alessandro Dell’Acqua x Tod’s collection is filled with nonchalant glamour. The iconic Tod’s “Gommini” dot kitten-heeled pumps and moccasins with dainty ribbons. There are also stylish stretch booties. Everything is rendered in a tight palette of three colors: Tod’s tan and Dell’Acqua’s all-time favorites, black and blush pink.
2. Brock Collection x Tabitha Simmons
British footwear designer Tabitha Simmons was tapped by Brock Collection to design a feminine spring capsule. Brock Collection x Tabitha Simmons: features feather mules, dramatic bow detailing and lace-up boots. We can’t wait til this one drops.
3. Berluti x Ferrari.
Designed to mark the release of the already sold-out Ferrari Monza Sp1 and Sp2, the capsule shoe collection collaboration has three styles. There’s a Chelsea boot, a dress shoes, and a lace-up oxford (from $2,080, available now at Berluti stores). Each features shapes inspired by the lines of Ferrari’s most iconic models. And each shoe is built with carbon-inserted soles developed in collaboration with Ferrari to provide maximum grip while driving.
4. Nike Basketball x Fear of God
Nike closed last year with lots of new collabs, including one with Jerry Lorenzo, who dropped a full apparel and sneaker collection with Nike Basketball x Fear of God. It fuses his design ethos with callbacks to ’90’s basketball.
5. Reebok x Opening Ceremony
Fresh from collabs with Vans and Birkenstock, Opening Ceremony has released its latest capsule collection, the Reebok Classic Leather sneaker ($130). The shoe has been reworked to feature an all-over floral printed satin jacquard fabric (available in either black or red). It features Opening Ceremony branding on the tongue and interchangeable laces.
Other Categories
1. Virgil Abloh x Evian
Abloh, the founder of Off-White and creative director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s line, is teaming up with Evian to make its design process more sustainable. Evian’s goal by 2025 is for all its water bottles to be made out of recycled plastic. According to a statement, Abloh will both help design Evian future products and “use his wide-scale platform to engage his audience and raise awareness around the importance of innovation in design and sustainability.” The first project is to be unveiled during fashion month.
2. Skyhour x Rimowa
Iconic luggage brand Rimowa has teamed up with travel platform Skyhour to launch the first ever experiential suitcase – one that allows people to purchase both a suitcase and the trip to go with it. When you buy a limited-edition RIMOWA + Skyhour case ($6,000), you receive 12 skyhours of travel every month for 12 months. Perfect way to meet your 2019 #travelgoals.
3. IKEA x Sonos
The Swedish furniture giant and the Cali sound machine company have teamed up for a collaboration aimed at democratizing sound and design in the home. Called Symfonisk, the collab will launch this year, and is intended to continue indefinitely.
