If you haven’t kicked off your holiday shopping yet, we hope that November’s Fashion and Design calendar will get you in the mood to get started. This month is filled with chic art shows like Artissima and London Art Week, new product launches like the debut of H&M x Moschino and Rachel Minkoff sunglasses and the World Architecture Festival to get your creative and gift-giving juices flowing. Art Shows

Nearly two hundred galleries from around the world participate in the contemporary art fair, Artissima every year. In addition to the fair, Artissima is also composed of four art sections, headed by a board of international curators and museum directors, devoted to emerging artists, drawings and rediscovering the great pioneers of contemporary art and to the sound projects – Nov 2 – 4

The 22nd edition of the Paris Photo Fair at the Grand Palais will see 200 exhibitors from around the world presenting photographic works from the 19th century to today – Nov 8 – 11

The Salon Art and Design at the Park Avenue Armory in New York will host galleries showing historical, modern and contemporary art and design – Nov 8 – 12

Held at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre, Art021 attracts international arts professionals and top galleries from around the world; the West Bund Art & Design show runs concurrently in Shanghai – Nov 9 – 11

Abu Dhabi Art is a platform for international modern and contemporary art and public programs – Nov 14 – 17

Art Duesseldorf will take place at the Areal Böhler, a former factory complex now providing light-filled long corridors – Nov 16 – 18

From ancient sculptures to old master drawings and post impressionist paintings, London Art Week offers visitors the chance to see, and buy, extraordinary works – Nov 29 – Dec 7

Design Conferences and Events

The KIKK Festival is a mix of technology, visual arts, music, architecture, design and interactive media; the 8th edition of the event will be held in Namur, Belgium – Nov 1 – 4

SOFA CHICAGO (Sculpture Objects Functional Art and Design) at the Navy Pier in Chicago is the city’s longest continuously running art fair and the world’s foremost fair dedicated to masterworks of contemporary art and design in all media – Nov 1 – 4

The world’s preeminent ideas festival returns to LA.  The Summit conference requires an application and approval to attend; it draws professionals from the worlds of sports, journalism and film to discuss the creative process – Nov 2 – 5

Lima Design Week serves as a platform to integrate art, culture and different manifestations of design with activities in different points of the city of Lima – Nov 7 – 19

The Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai at the Shanghai Exhibition Center is in its 3rd year of bringing the best Italian brands and design to the Chinese market – Nov 22 – 24

World Architecture Festival moves to Amsterdam this year.  The program centers around the awards, which are decided following a series of open crits and culminates in a gala dinner where the coveted World Building of the Year prize is announced – Nov 28 – 30

Taking place alongside the World Architecture Festival, the Inside Festival celebrates the year’s best interior design projects – Nov 28 – 30

Auctions and Antiques

Phillips is hosting a Geneva Watch Auction – Nov 10 – 11

Christie’s hosts 20th Century Week in New York featuring masterpieces by Hockney, Pissarro, Rothko, Monet, Bacon and Rodin as well as esteemed collections, including An American Place: The Barney A. Ebsworth Collection, the Collection of A. Jerrold Perenchio and Property from the Collection of Harry W. and Mary Margaret Anderson – Nov 11 – 16

Sotheby’s will present Panerai: the Prototypes, a sale of three unique prototypes from luxury Italian watchmaker Panerai.  Leading the sale is the exclusive prototype for the forthcoming Panerai LAB-ID, a new Special Edition of just 50 pieces – Nov 12 – 19

Christie’s Magnificent Jewels auction will offer over 300 exceptional jewels and designs.  The Pink Legacy – an 18.96 carat Fancy Vivid Pink diamond – is leading the auction and will be offered alongside other incomparable diamonds, gemstones and pearls – Nov 13

Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels auction in Geneva will begin with “Royal Jewels from the Bourbon-Parma Family,” featuring gems from a clan linked to several ruling families of Europe, including the Bourbons and the Habsburgs – Nov 14-15

In 2007 Sotheby’s sold the art collection of two of Russia’s greatest musical legends, Slava Rostropovich and Galina Vishnevskaya. This month Sotheby’s will auction their private collection of jewellery, furniture, musical instruments and Russian works of art – Nov 27 – 28

Milliner Jessica Leone has partnered with Anine Bing on a three-piece capsule collection of Cali-chic wide-brimmed hats perfect for fall

Bulgari: The Perfume of Gems ($150) is a book on Bulgari’s luxury line of fragrances exploring the intimate bonds that connect Rome, the gem roads, and the world of perfumes – Nov 6

H&Moschino debuts in H&M stores – Nov 8

Join Christie’s Education for The Art of Fashion where you will learn about the market for fashion, design history, and what makes fashion collectible.  The morning will begin with a lecture from Kate Betts, journalist and author followed by exclusive visits to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s Collections and Conservation Lab and the Hervé Pierre Atelier – Nov 9

The Denver Art Museum in Colorado will host the first major US retrospective of French luxury fashion house Christian Dior.
