October travel is not only about autumn leaves, at least not this year. The long-awaited One&Only resort in Rwanda finally opens, and many fan favorite resorts in the Caribbean re-open this month after extensive renovations and rebuilds after the devastating hurricanes in 2017.
Other notable happenings this month include glamping near the Grand Canyon, the opening of the Four Seasons in Sao Paulo and the hotly anticipated opening of the Times Square Edition. Hurry up and go now, before the leaves fall.
The One&Only Nyungwe House resort, on the edge of the Nyungwe rainforest, will welcome its first quests this month. Travelers to Puerto Rico will be able to book a stay at Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, this month. The resort’s 114 guestrooms and suites have been reimagined, and the grounds will feature 300,000 new flowers and plants.

Located amid the leafy green spaces along the Pinheiros river in southern Sao Paulo, the all new 29 storey Four Seasons Hotel São Paulo at Nações Unidas will open this month and features restaurants, a spa, meeting rooms and other facilities – Oct 15
The Ritz Carlton Residences Waikiki Beach is now complete with the opening of its Diamond Head Tower – Oct 15
The Times Square Edition opens this month and will feature a 5,800 sq. ft. beer garden and event deck overlooking Times Square, as well as an all day dining venue also featuring terraces with views of Times Square
Sir Richard Branson’s 74 acre Necker Island (including its 11 bedroom Great House) will be available for exclusive use bookings beginning this month after being closed following hurricane damage . Couples and solo travelers who do not wish to rent the entire island can book individual rooms during one of three Celebration Weeks in October and November.
