The Dandelion Chandelier Luxury Entertainment Calendar highlights notable new events in theater, film, popular music and television in July 2018. Music festivals, drops from indie favs, Ant-Man and The Wasp, the return of Orange is the New Black, the premiers of Sharp Objects and the long-anticipated Castle Rock. Plus a musical adaption of Pretty Woman and a whole bunch of new books that look really interesting. Are you kidding? We really don’t want to spend July indoors – but we might have to. Too much to miss on stage and screen.

At the 36th annual Filmfest Müchen, this year’s CineMerit Award winner, Emma Thompson, will host a discussion about how to succeed in a male-dominated industry- June 28 – July 7

Ant-Man and The Wasp takes place during the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War; Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Superhero and a father – July 6

Billed as this summer’s version of Big Little Lies, HBO’s Sharp Objects starring Amy Adams is an adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s thriller of the same name; a reporter with mental health issues attempts to solve a murder in her hometown – July 8

Nominations for this year’s Primetime Emmys will be announced live – July 12

Snowfall, the drama about the crack cocaine epidemic in LA in the ‘80s from co-creator, executive producer and Oscar-nominee John Singleton, returns on FX – July 13

The characters from three of Stephen King’s novels become entangled on his fictional Maine mountain in Castle Rock – July 25

The 5th season of Orange Is the New Black returns following Poussey’s tragic death and the riot that followed – July 27

Making It on NBC is a crafting competition reality series hosted by Parks and Recreation’s Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman; each episode will focus on a specific DIY theme, showcasing talent across the country – July 31

Casual returns to Hulu for its final season – July 31

New York City Center’s Don’t Bother Me I Can’t Cope is a celebration of African-American culture and community; conceived and directed by Vinnette Carroll, the work presents the issues of racial politics in America through a mix of song and dance with a score that includes gospel, jazz, soul, calypso and rock – Previews July 25, Opens July 26

Michael Jackson On the Wall at the National Portrait Gallery in London explores the artist’s influence on some of the leading names in contemporary art. The exhibition’s opening coincides with what would have been the artist’s 60th birthday – through Oct 21

The Wireless Festival in London’s Finsbury Park will feature performances by J. Cole, Stormzy, DJ Khaled and Friends, PartyNextDoor, Big Sean, Migos, J Hus, Lil Uzi Vert, Cardi B and more – July 6-8

The Monte-Carlo Sporting Summer Festival kicks off with a performance by Ringo Starr – July 6

Latitude in England is more than just a music festival:  with DJs hidden in the woods, colorful sheep roaming the fields, opera on the lake, film debuts, clowns under canvas, local ales and a spacious children’s area, there’s something for everyone. Oh, and there’s a full program of music, too, including The Killers and Solange – July 12 – 15

Spain’s Mad Cool Festival  is relatively new but getting great reviews: this year’s headliners include Pearl Jam, Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode and Jack White – July 12 – 15

Held annually since 1948, The Nice Jazz Festival grooves on with a lineup including Gary Clark Jr. and Gregory Porter – July 16 – 21

Chicago’s Pitchfork Music Festival is a three day event of rock, hip-hop, electronic, jazz, punk and any other genre imaginable; this year’s headliners include Fleet Foxes, Lauren Hill and Tame Impala – July 20 – 22

N.E.R.D, Kendrick Lamar and Bob Dylan play Fuji Rock at the Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. Yep, you heard that right. Get your tickets now – July 27 – 29
