Can the Lowcountry of South Carolina deliver a high luxury experience? Oh, yes, dear reader. Case in point? The fabulous Montage Palmetto Bluffs, often cited on lists of the most romantic hotels in the world. We first stayed there a few years ago, and fell completely in love with this gracious resort. A couple of years ago, a $100 million renovation made it even more magical. If you want to leave every manner of urban care behind – especially if you’re traveling with small children, or a large group – this serene hideaway is an answered prayer.
How will you spend the longest day of 2018 (in the Northern Hemisphere, at least)? In some countries, the Midnight Sun will only set for a handful of hours, meaning that the celebrations will last all night (and day) long. It’s the official start of summer, so you may opt to spend it lounging by the pool. But if you’re feeling more curious and adventurous, the world awaits.

After all, strange bedfellows are the norm in summer, n’est-il pas si?
When a grand dame gets a makeover, it’s risky business. Sometimes the urgency to be newly relevant results in the loss of what was special in the first place. Happily, the new Beauty floor at the New York City flagship of Saks Fifth Avenue has achieved exactly what one might hope: it’s what the beauty department used to be – only much, much better. We paid a visit to Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, and this is what we saw.
