June when we thought we were about to get our summer bod back, here comes June with lots of delicious temptations. Several major cities and posh summer retreats are hosting “Taste of” events, including Amsterdam, Dublin, London, Martha’s Vineyard and Dallas. There’s also a film and food festival in Vero Beach; The Aspen Food & Wine Festival; the Big Apple BBQ; and even a pizza fest in Napoli. Get your cardio in early, then feast for the rest of the day! After all, the tastes of summer won’t linger for long.

Get the month started off right by celebrating National Doughnut Day – June 1

The annual Napa Valley Wine Auction has raised more than $150 million for the Napa County community over its thirty-seven years. Napa wines are up for auction, whole barrels from more than 100 wineries will be sold as lots; at the live auction, in prior years big-ticket items have included a private tour of the Antinori Family Wine Estate in Tuscany and private jet trips to Michelin-starred American restaurants and the Bocuse d’Or competition in Lyon. The event encompasses a great deal beyond the auction itself — like private dinners at vintners’ homes and legendary parties – June 1 – 3

The book On the Menu by Nicholas Lander presents over 100 stunning, full-color reproductions of menus – some at the cutting edge of contemporary culinary innovation, and others that are relics from another time. Included in the collection are items such as the last menu from The French House Dining Room before Fergus Henderson departed for St. John; the final menu from Ferran Adrià’s three Michelin-starred el Bulli in Spain; a Christmas menu served during the siege of Paris in 1870, which featured rats and zoo animals; and the wittily illustrated menu at Quo Vadis in London, which gave the restaurant a new lease on life – June 1

Gourmet Days returns to St. Petersburg with a lineup of top chefs from all over the world, including Anthony Genovese, Will Horowitz and Garima Arora, who will be joined by the Russian city’s top culinary ambassadors for a series of dinners and discussions designed to put St. Petersburg on the culinary world map – June 5 – 9

Christie’s London will auction off the world’s best single malt whisky from Sullivan’s Cove in its Finest & Rarest Wines and Spirits sale – June 7

The theme for World Oceans Day this year also centers around preventing plastic pollution – June 8

The second annual Napa Valley Rosé Fest at Sterling Vineyards in California supports the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer. Held on National Rosé Day, the event will feature more than 30 Napa wineries. Guests will have a chance to try highlights like Etude Grace Benoist Ranch Pinot Noir Rosé 2017 and Provenance Calistoga Malbec Rosé 2017 alongside a selection of small plates from local restaurants – June 9

Expect a smoky haze to take over NYC at the Big Apple BBQ – June 9 – 10

The European Bocuse d’Or regional finals take place in Turin, with 20 countries competing for just 10 places at the Grand Final in Lyon in January. Expect stunning creativity and a lively atmosphere as the teams look to book their place at the Olympics of Gastronomy – June 11 – 12

The world’s great hotel chefs will converge on Rockefeller Center to celebrate delicious cuisine – and Citymeals – at the 33rd annual Chefs Tribute to Citymeals. Don your most festive attire and join more than 1,000 guests in sampling signature dishes from culinary stars including Daniel Boulud, Scott Conant, Larry Forgione and Charlie Palmer. Leading sommeliers and mixologists will serve up delicious wines and cocktails alongside the tasting – June 11

The annual Taste of London take place in Regent’s Park – June 13 – 17

The Museum of Food and Drink in Brooklyn has partnered with Edible History for a new program focusing on Dinners of the Past.  The first event of this series is called Dinners of the Past: The Spice Trade of the Medieval World during which diners will travel across the medieval world as they map out the complex series of trade networks, known as the Silk Road.  Each course will come from a different city along the Silk Road, such as Quanzhu, Calcutta, Baghdad, and Venice – June 14

In the aftermath of the 2017 California wildfires, vintners in Ojai Valley discovered a surprising aspect in the abundant regrowth: morel mushrooms have exploded in the area, a phenomenon that scientists have noted after previous wildfires in the western United States. The Ojai Valley Inn is pairing up with seven nearby winemakers to create a dinner featuring morel mushrooms. The seven-course meal will include creative bites like an amuse-bouche of melon, hazelnuts and morels, and a black bass with a ragout of morels, fava beans and ham. The dessert goes all out: a “Morel Chocolate Cremeux with Cocoa Nib Soil, Morel Micro Sponge, Black Walnut Brittle, Truffle Gelato” – June 14

The Taste of the Vineyard on Martha’s Vineyard kicks off the Island’s social season.  More than 30 years ago, the Taste was started by the Vineyard Trust as a fundraiser for the restoration of the Flying Horses Carousel. More potluck than posh, it was a small event in 1986, but has grown immensely in popularity and participation over the years and is now the most important annual fundraiser for the Vineyard Trust – June 14

Taste of Dublin returns to Iveagh Gardens. Over four indulgent days, the city’s latest, greatest and hottest restaurants each fashion together exquisite signature dishes, allowing visitors to create their dream tasting menu at the ultimate foodie festival.  This year’s theme, Food Lovers Playground, will bring a playful and vibrant twist – June 14 – 17

This month the Aspen Food & Wine Classic will celebrate its 36th anniversary as one of America’s top culinary events. The three day event showcases cooking demonstrations, wine tastings and panel talks by leading wine and culinary experts – June 15 – 17

Truckeroo is a monthly festival held at The Bullpen in Washington DC that showcases the hottest food trucks in the area. It also features live music, cold drinks, games and more – June 15
