It’s off to the races in the sporting world in April. There are marathons in Paris, Rome, London, Big Sur and Boston; the Grand National horse race; the Tour of Flanders; and the FEI World Cup. And while not technically within the standard definition of a race, the competition for the Stanley Cup also gets underway. And March Madness comes to a grand close. Game on.

The NCAA Men’s Division I championship game, the grand finale of March Madness, will be held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas – April 2
The Commonwealth Games head to Australia’s Gold Coast, and will welcome more than 6,600 athletes and team officials from 70 Commonwealth nations and territories to share in the celebration of sport, entertainment and culture – April 4- 15
Not to be confused with basketball’s Final Four, the 2018 Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship holds its annual Frozen Four: Michigan, Minnesota-Duluth, Notre Dame and Ohio State meet at at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota on April 5; the championship game will be played there on April 7
The 82nd edition of The Masters Tournament in Augusta promises to be a challenging one: last year, Sergio Garcia defeated Justin Roseto to win the tournament after both players finished at 9-under 279. This year all eyes will be on Tiger Woods – April 5- 8
This year marks the 43rd year of the Hong Kong Sevens tournament; it’s the seventh in the 2017-18 World Rugby Sevens Series – April 6- 8
The 42nd Annual Paris Marathon will see 40,000 runners circle the Arc de Triomphe and cross the finish line at the Bois du Boulogne – April 8
The 24th annual Maratona di Roma in Rome will see an expected 19,000 runners competing on a loop that starts and ends near the Colosseum; the course winds through charming piazzas and over cobblestone streets and past historic sites like St. Peter’s Basilica, Circus Maximus, the Pyramid of Cestius and the Spanish Steps – April 8
In a last gasp of winter fun, Snowbombing, the combination winter sports and music festival, kicks off in Mayrhofen, Austria with live performances and sporting competitions– there’ll be an igloo rave, an enchanted forest party, and an underground tennis club turned supper club – April 9-14
The NHL Stanley Cup playoffs kick off. Will the Penguins repeat their victory from last year? – April 11
Some of the world’s finest horse and rider combinations will meet at the famous AccorHotels Arena in an attempt to win The Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Finals and FEI World Cup Dressage Finals in Paris – April 10- 15
The Grand National Horse Race takes place in Liverpool – April 14
The first of three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments played on clay is the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters. The eight-day tournament brings together top tennis players from around the world, as well as a spectacular gala and show at the magnificent Salle des Etoiles Sporting Monte Carlo (but sadly, no Roger Federer) – April 14- 22
The Boston Marathon is the world’s oldest annual marathon and ranks as one of the world’s most prestigious road racing events; this year marks 122 years of the race – April 16
Every year, more than 40,000 people run The London Marathon. The first half of the route runs just south of the Thames, starting at Greenwich and Blackheath. After crossing the river on Tower Bridge, runners pass some of the capital’s most famous landmarks, including the Tower of London and Big Ben, before finishing in front of Buckingham Palace – April 22
The 72nd annual Tour de Romandie cycling race in Switzerland is the precursor to the Tour de France– April 24-29
The 2018 NFL Draft will be the held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This year marks the 83rd annual meeting of National Football League franchises to select newly eligible players – April 26- 28
The 33rd annual Big Sur International Marathon in Carmel, California is the world’s largest rural marathon; join 4,500 runners and race past sweeping Pacific Ocean vistas. The hilly course runs along Highway 1 and through the redwood forests of seven California State Parks – April 29
