February may have blazed past, but March augers to be even faster: this month will see the 15th Motorcycle Grand Prix of Qatar and the close of the UAE horse racing season with the Dubai World Cup. Other highlights? The Paralympics in Pyeongchang, the tip-off of March Madness, and the earliest ever start date for Major League Baseball. It’s Women’s History Month, and in Morocco, an all-female off-road rally will be held for the 28th time. At least in the realm of fitness and sports, it appears that March is definitely in touch with its leonine side, with no lambs in sight.

The 2018 USA Sevens is the event’s 15th edition, and the 6th tournament of the 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series. The tournament take place at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada – March 2-4

Competitions at the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea will be held in six winter sports, with 80 medal events in total. This year, snowboarding has been expanded into a separate discipline with 10 medal events. Other disciplines include Biathlon, Cross-country skiing, Ice sledge hockey and wheelchair curling – March 9-18

Get your brackets ready! The NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament – aka March Madness – kicks off mid-month. Selection Sunday will take place on March 11 this year, when the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee reveals which 68 teams have made the field for that year’s basketball championships. Since the tournament began in 1939, UCLA has the most titles with 11. Kentucky follows with 8 national titles, while North Carolina has 6. So who will take it this year? The Cheltenham Festival is an annual horse race in Gloucestershire, England, with race prize money second only to the Grand National; the event draws many of the best British- and Irish-trained horses – March 13-16

The Motorcycle Grand Prix of Qatar will take place at the Losail International Circuit and this year it will be its 15th Anniversary – March 16- 18

The Saut Hermes au Grand Palais is an annual 5-star show-jumping competition held at the Grand Palais in Paris; it’s sponsored by the fashion company Hermès  – March 16-18

The annual Rallye Aïcha des Gazellesthe only women’s rally in the world that takes place 100% off-road, has been held since 1990 in Morocco – trucks, 4x4s and motorbikes welcome – March 16 – 31

Located in beautiful Milan this year are the 2018 World Figure Skating Championships where they will welcome the best skaters in the world across ladies singles, men’s singles, pairs and ice dancing – March 19-25

This year will see the earliest-ever start of 2018 Major League Baseball season; Opening Day will feature 8 divisional match-ups among the 15 games, in addition to an Inter-league contest between the host Detroit Tigers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Yankees will open at Toronto; Cincinnati fans will see their “traditional opener” played once again on the actual first day of a season; and there will be a couple of early rivalry match-ups (Giants at Dodgers and Astros at Rangers,) so get your peanuts and crackerjacks ready – March 29

Major League Baseball Opening Day

The LPGA holds its first of five majors with the 2018 ANA Inspiration at the Dinah Shore Tournament Course of Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. At last year’s event, So Yeon Ryu defeated Lexi Thompson with a birdie on the first playoff hole, the par five, 18th to win her second major championship and first victory on Tour since 2014 – March 29-April 1

LPGA ANA Inspiration

The UAE horse racing season comes to close with the 23rd running of Dubai World Cup on March 31st, Dubbed the “the world’s richest day of racing,” this event boasts total purses of $30m for 9 Group races – March 31
