February’s Fitness and Sports calendar is especially jam-packed this year, thanks to some major world class events, including Super Bowl LII and the PyeongChang Olympics. In addition, there’s a sporting event for almost every taste, from horse races to cycling, running to dog shows. And superstar Serena Williams returns to Tour-level tennis! Its sure to be a month filled with amazing stories of victory, perseverance and glory.

Before the Olympics begin, the annual Six Nations Championship between the rugby teams of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales start on Saturday, 3rd February 2018 with Wales and Scotland getting the first match underway at Principality Stadium in Cardiff – Feb 3 – March 17

Love them or hate them (you know where we are on this one), the New England Patriots are headed to Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This year the team will be battling the Philadelphia Eagles, playing in their first Super bowl in 13 years.  Kelly Clarkson is scheduled to headline a pre-Super Bowl concert, while Pink will perform the national anthem and Leslie Odom Jr. is set to sing ‘America the Beautiful’. Justin Timberlake will command the stage at halftime, becoming the first musician to secure three Super Bowl halftime performances. Will the Patriots see victory for the 2nd year in a row?  Only some good chicken wings and lots of fun commercials stand between us and finding out – Feb 4

The annual White Turf competition will be held over three weekends in St. Moritz, featuring skiers being pulled by horses over a frozen lake. In addition to the exciting horse races, the event features gourmet cuisine, lively music and inspiring art exhibitions. Expect lots of Champagne on ice amidst the winter sunshine and stunningly beautiful, snow-capped mountain surroundings – Feb 4, 11 and 18

The 2018 Winter Olympic Games begin in PyeongChang, Korea this month and Team USA’s athletes are looking to make a mark – from the gold-medal-hungry women’s ice hockey team to gold medal favorite 17-year-old snowboarding star Chloe Kim.  All of the athletes on Team USA bring their own unique story, including Maame Biney, a 17-year-old who already made history this year as the first black woman to qualify for Team USA’s short track speed skating team. Making his return in 2018, Gus Kenworthy is a freestyle skiing star who will be the 2nd openly gay male athlete to compete at a Winter Games. As for how they and the rest of Team USA will fare against stiff competition in Pyeongchang, we’ll all have to wait and see – Feb 9-25

Serena Williams will return to professional Tour-level tennis just five months after giving birth to her first child. She’ll play alongside her sister Venus; CoCo Vandeweghe; and Kathy Rinaldi when Team USA meets the Netherlands in the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas in Asheville, North Carolina – Feb 10-11

Just as competitive and well trained as any Olympic athlete, the dogs of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will strut their stuff this month at Madison Square Garden – Feb 12-13

The 67th NBA All-Star Game will be played on Feb 18 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.  Leading up to the big game are the always-entertaining Celebrity All-Star game and the All Star Challenge events, including slam dunks, 3 point shots and skills tests – Feb 16-18

The Windsor Charity Polo Cup in Vero Beach, Florida will be co-chaired by Salvatore Ferragamo, grandson and namesake of the famous designer – Feb 17

The 60th annual Daytona 500 marks the start of the 2018 NASCAR Cup season – Feb 18

Over 35,000 runners will participate in the Tokyo Marathon – Feb 25

The World Track Championships may sound related to track and field, but they’re not. Rather, the event is comprised of races for the various disciplines and distances in track cycling.  The fast-paced indoor event takes place in Apeldoorn, Netherlands – Feb 28-March 4
